EWRE has a leading role in several key research projects in the field of geosequestration (CO₂ geological storage). Research partners to these projects are top universities in the EU and large scale companies involved in this field.

Some of the geosequestration research projects EWRE is involved in:

• MUSTANG: A multiple space and time scale approach for the quantification of deep saline formations for CO2 storage.
• PANACEA (Led by EWRE): Predicting and monitoring the long term behavior of CO₂ injected in deep geological formations.
• TRUST (Led by EWRE): Sizeable pilot tests for CO₂ geological storage.
